Reason vs Emotions in the General Election

Please people, don't vote based on emotions.... Once again, not advocating for any Party....

Coming to think of it, shouldn't our leaders be remunerated accordingly? They work their ass off, running here and there, not having a life, ensuring the livelihood of 5million people. Pardon me if I'm wrong here, but I believe the Opposition in Parliament are also earning the same. Do you see them donating it out? Where is the moral basis here to even start complaining?

First World Parliament. Hmmm. Let's look at what's happening in the US right now. Are we prepared to face the tsunami of impacts that will come and hit us if we follow in the footsteps of the US? Democrats vs Republicans. Near-downfall of the civil service sector. Astronomical budget deficit. I don't think I want our future generations to be branding ours as the ones that caused this all to happen in Singapore. *gulps*

But of course, having the voice of the Opposition is not a bad thing. It serves as a good "checkpoint" or a "watchdog" whatever you call it, to attain a balance. Living in Hougang for the past 2 decades of my life has let me understood that a capable Opposition is a plus-point for Singapoerans. Mr. Low of the WP has been doing a fantastic job of course. But look at this now, the job that entails foreign diplomacy or affairs ain't a job for the commonman. Let's face the truth.

Let commonsense prevail. Vote for a valid reason. Don't base it on emotions or spur of the moment.

Well it's ok if you are paid so well, but if you are paid private sector pay but assured of your job even though you screw up (aka iron rice bowl), then that's not fair.

You want to do private sector pay, you do private sector hire-and-fire style. If you don't want to do hire-and-fire, you don't do out of this world private sector pay. Simple as that.

Look at the Japanese PM - he declined his pay until the crisis is over. And it's not even his fault that a natural disaster happened. UK are freezing their ministrial pay to prevent public anger. These people knows what is accountability and responsibility to be sitting in the parliament getting paid by tax payers'money. Whereas the citizens get blamed when floods happened and we are called quitters when we complain.

Most people want a better govetnment, not a new one. In case you are wondering ;)
