Hate? Or Hobby?

Actually I hate Facebook... for many reasons....

But I don't know why, when I have to be studying, Facebooking becomes a hobby (this doesn't mean that I love it).... Cos somehow every 10 minutes, I find myself looking at the wall updates of what's going on.

Not that I find joy in doing so, but it's just something to take my mind off the studying that I have to do.

Your MPs are servants, not maids.

The heat of the General Election is really going up, as we are only 2 days away from Polling Day now.

I've seen many people giving their comments on Facebook about the incumbant and the Opposition parties. One thing I noticed most is that people complain that they don't see their MPs for 5 years until General Election.

Please, for goodness sake, what are Meet-the-People sessions (MPS) for?!?! Harlowww... Go to your freaking HDB void deck notice board and check out where the sessions are held. And if you need help from your MPs, then go for the MPS. Even poor/handicapped or others who are unfortunate in one way or another proceed personally to the MPS to look for their MP for help and counselling. What more, you are a fit and healthy individual. You expect the MP to go around every single day and night, knocking on everybody's doors for 5 years? It's ridiculous, isn't it? What if you start to find them a bother cos they always disturb you by knocking on your door, when you're having dinner or when u're catching your favourite TV show on HBO, etc etc....

Please... be sensible.

Reason vs Emotions in the General Election

Please people, don't vote based on emotions.... Once again, not advocating for any Party....

Coming to think of it, shouldn't our leaders be remunerated accordingly? They work their ass off, running here and there, not having a life, ensuring the livelihood of 5million people. Pardon me if I'm wrong here, but I believe the Opposition in Parliament are also earning the same. Do you see them donating it out? Where is the moral basis here to even start complaining?

First World Parliament. Hmmm. Let's look at what's happening in the US right now. Are we prepared to face the tsunami of impacts that will come and hit us if we follow in the footsteps of the US? Democrats vs Republicans. Near-downfall of the civil service sector. Astronomical budget deficit. I don't think I want our future generations to be branding ours as the ones that caused this all to happen in Singapore. *gulps*

But of course, having the voice of the Opposition is not a bad thing. It serves as a good "checkpoint" or a "watchdog" whatever you call it, to attain a balance. Living in Hougang for the past 2 decades of my life has let me understood that a capable Opposition is a plus-point for Singapoerans. Mr. Low of the WP has been doing a fantastic job of course. But look at this now, the job that entails foreign diplomacy or affairs ain't a job for the commonman. Let's face the truth.

Let commonsense prevail. Vote for a valid reason. Don't base it on emotions or spur of the moment.

Sense of time management

Why do people these days not keep to appointments made eons ago? It goes to show how significant people regard the appointments made.

A simple once-a-year dinner has been planned long ago. Preparations are already underway. And people can call and say that they forgot about it and had arranged other events on that evening itself.

Many more such cases.... but forget about it. No point thinking about them.

These days, getting things to happen feels like asking an elephant to dance like a butterfly.

Get a freaking planner and make an effort to refer back to it regularly, for heaven's sake. And stop all this nonsense to create unhappiness that isn't necessary at all.

Thought of the morning

It's amazing how much people are willing to help others to do free advertisement, but not willing to even help themselves or their own family members do anything.

Nothing wrong with that (aka wanting to help friends out, I do that sometimes too)... just some thoughts running through my mind right now.

Back to work.... it's a beautiful Sunday morning by the way... :)

The route less taken.

I finally understood what my teachers from my primary school, all the way till junior college, meant by "Take the route less taken". (It was even the title of a GP essay that I was supposed to attempt.)

Of course, they didn't use the exact words. But the meaning behind was the same. They had wanted me to, through the unconventional route, grow to become a better and different person. Better in the sense, be more than what I thought I could become. Different in the sense, to be unique.

Definitely, it's easier said than done. But I've decided to take a step out. My first step. Yes I may be slow in finally understanding why my teachers had wanted me to do so, but it's better late than never. And I'm slowly beginning to see something.... something that I've never seen before because most probably it was previously masked.

I'm glad.

Cheers to myself...!

*where's my pinot noir?*
