I had a very wonderful weekend in Bintan with my family and my dad's colleagues' families. Not the first company trip that I went on with them, but this one seems to be the most enjoyable one even though it's just a 2-day event.
Okay how do I start off... hmm... okok well, you need to either take a plane or a ferry across to Bintan, so we took the ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal early on saturday morning. It reminded me of the rides to Tekong I had to make during my NSF days.... I quite miss taking the ferry. And the ferries we took to and fro Bintan are the exact same ones that go to Tekong.

Okay, back to the main topic. During the ferry ride, they actually broadcast Spiderman 3!! yeah, the whole movie. The beginning was boring, and I actually fell asleep!
One thing that I took note of though, was that their English subtitles were erm.... not very good I must say. Some grammar mistakes here and there which made me wonder what the casts were trying to say. And this one is the funniest mistake I've seen! I can't remember the exact phrase but here's generally what I'm trying to say. I can't believe they made such a mistake.... They used the word 'liver' to describe a person who lives!! It's like oh-my-goodness... we all have a living person residing within us? HAHA... I guess mebbe they thought since a person who dives is a diver, hence a person who lives is a liver.
About 2 hours after we left Singapore, we disembarked at the ferry terminal in Bintan. Their standard of living is really so much different from ours. Our guides brought us to this shopping district, and there really isn't anything that we can buy from that place, except for the ikan bilis that the aunties love to buy? yeah... something like that. Ok basically the whole of Bintan has nothing for us youngsters to buy back lahz, unless you wanna buy a tudung (is it spelt this way?).
One of the last things you will see there are the traffic lights! Even if there was one, traffic just beat the red lights anytime they wish to as long as it is safe to do so. No traffic jams =)
The denominations of their currency, as you all know, are in hundreds of thousands. And it's so freaking difficult to count when you're really in the situation of needing to come up with the cash. And you still gotta calculate if it's worth paying that amount.
That was it, we told our guides that we don't want to shop anymore, and suggested that they bring us back to the resort next haha. Evil huh, the guides planned everything for us, but we just wanted to go back to the resort to rest and relax. Anyway, all the fun really only came when we were in the resort. The resort is located along the eastern coast of the island and it's called Bintan Agro Beach & Spa Resort.

The old ones went for their massages and spa sessions while the young ones just played the water sports! We played on the banana-boat, wic is pulled by a motorboat in front and we had to try to keep our balance (esp. the first person) so that we don't errr... capsize (shld i use this word for the banana boat?).

Next up was kayaking. And after kayaking, i think everyone had enough of the sea, and they started beach volleyball. Wanted to snorkel too initially, but was abit lazy in the end -__-" Oh, anyway the sun in Bintan is really damn power. It kinda burns, but it feels comfortable. And the best thing is that it ain't humid at all over there, so unlike Singapore.
Concussed for quite some time before dinner. And mind you, dinner that night was the main highlight while we were on the island man. The amount of food on the table was fantabulous I gotta say. I've never ever seen sooooooo much food laid on the table at a single time in my life before. It was basically a feast fit for kings and queens (quite true since shuwan says that i'm a royalty *grinz*). Their sambal belachan chilli is really yummy, and our local one cannot be compared to it at all I think.

*sorry for poor lighting... this amt of food is only half the table, there's still the other half*
Who says you only get to sing melayu songs in indonesia? Haha, guess what, we had our own KTV sessions after dinner as well! It was almost like K-box. At least they have many songs that we know of. Cool huh.
Then it was soccer time for the men!! woohoo... we got to watch the FA Cup final - Chelsea vs Man Utd. Was kinda excited at first, but 15 minutes into the game, i predicted it would be a freaking boring game. By the 60th minute, I've gone to bed. Man, am I glad that I didn't stay up to finish the match. In the end, Chelsea only won 1-0 in extra time. crap.
Woke up at 4 plus the next morning to get ready to go witness the sunrise. I almost thought we couldn't see it due to the amount of clouds present which could block the sun from us. But fortunately, the clouds somehow disappeared, and I managed to catch the sunrise. Pretty.

*sunrise*
Breakfast was superb as well... Omelette, nasi lemak, sausages, kampung chicken and many more... eat-all-we-could-eat style. hmm isn't that buffet style? wadeva... 总之呢, i ate like i nv ate before that morning cos the food was just too yummy to resist. But then after bfast, there isn't anything for us to do again. Ended up sleeping on that really-comfy-bed, until it was noon and time to check out.
Our guides brought us to the largest shopping centre on the island. Nothing to buy again. sianz. The only unique thing they had there were the batik clothings.
One thing about Singaporeans, as usual, we complain the most haha! The tour guide told me that we are the first tour group that they helped change 3 different tour coaches for because some of the aunties complained that the previous two buses were either too small or too warm lol.
So that marks the end of my Bintan trip. The ferry trip back took a longer time. The evening sun was shining into the cabin brightly. The sound of the running motor made me close my eyes... the moment I opened my eyes, the sky was dark. The orange lights from the lamp posts by the roads welcomed us back to Singapore. Home sweet home.
